Looking for education where you are still in control of what your child learns

At The Tutoring School, we value the flexibility and individuality that home education offers. We believe parents should be free to shape their child's learning in a way that suits their strengths, interests and pace - not simply follow a one size fits all system. 

Our pods exist to support families on that journey. We provide a calm, focused environment where children can learn, think, question and grow academically. With class sizes of 8, personalised teaching, and space for confidence to develop, students are able to make meaningful progress without the pressure of mainstream schooling.

We understand that the National Curriculum does not suit every learner. Increasingly, more children across East-Sussex are being  place on part-time timetables, or unable to access full time education due to anxiety, academic pressure, SEN needs, or simply a mismatch in learning style.

Our tutoring pod exists as an alternative pathway - a calm, structured environment designed to support home-educated children with focused English and Mathematics tuition, while allowing families to build flexible, balanced educational experience that meets their child's individual needs.

We aim to nurture confidence, reduce stress, and empower young people to learn in a way that works for them - not force them into a model that doesn't. 

Our tutoring pod takes place in a warm home setting rather than a busy institutional environment. This allows learns to feel relaxed, safe and valued - something many children struggle to experience in a large school.

A home-based pod setting helps reduce anxiety, supports sensory needs, and allows children to learn at their pace without crowds, noise or pressure. For many families, this environment is the stepping-stone for their child's needs to enjoy learning again.

Families may choose between a 3 day or 4 day attendance pattern depending on their home-education plan and individual needs.

3 days per week

10:00 - 14:00 (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday)

4 days per week 

10:00 - 14:00 (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)

For families who need support with travel, we offer an optional pick-up and drop-off service for learners attending the pod.

This add-on is designed to help children access learning more easily and reduce stress for parents. Collection routes and availability may vary depending on location, and places are limited to keep the journey safe and comfortable. 

Families may choose to the service daily, occasionally, or not at all - attendance is not dependent on transport use.
